Helping Students Learn How to Ask Better Questions
Mar 12, 2026

One of the most valuable study skills isn’t writing neatly or remembering facts — it’s the ability to ask good questions.
Good questions show curiosity, deepen understanding and train learners to think critically rather than memorise blindly. Yet many children stay quiet when they’re confused, afraid of “sounding silly” or slowing down the class.
As tutors, we encourage questions — because questions open doors.
Teach children these question starters:
🔍 What does this mean?
🤔 Why does this work this way?
🔗 How is this connected to what we learned yesterday?
📚 Can I explain this in my own words?
👀 Is there another way to approach this?
The goal is not to ask more questions, but better ones.
A child who questions is not struggling — they are thinking.
💬 If your child struggles with studying or motivation, our tutors can build a personalised study routine that works — calm, manageable and proven.
